  • Why go to a Learner Dad Workshop?

    Over the years, researchers have found that having a baby is one of the most stressful events in a relationship. They have also found that most new Dads are unprepared for lifestyle changes after birth. We all know most Dads don't read parenting books!

    Learner Dad workshops exist to help new Dads understand what parenthood is really like so they can enjoy a fulfilling relationship with their partner and child.

  • But I’m already going to prenatal classes! Isn't that enough?

    Learner Dad Workshops complement antenatal classes by focusing on the key issues in the first 6 months from a father's perspective. A recent Australian study found that around 90% of new fathers agree that prenatal classes helped them feel more confident during labour...BUT less than 30% agree that prenatal classes helped them prepare for lifestyle and relationship changes post birth.

    Coming to a Learner Dad Workshop allows you to get to grips with becoming a Dad with a group of men going through exactly the same thing as you.

  • What’s covered in the Learner Dad Workshop?

    The Learner Dad Workshop lasts for a total of five hours and we cram a lot into that time. We tackle all of the important issues and try to have a laugh along the way.

  • When are the Workshops held?

    Learner Dad Workshops are held either on a Saturday (one session 10:30am - 4:30pm) or weeknight (2 x 2.5 hour sessions usually 7pm - 9:30pm over two weeks).

  • Where are the Workshops held?

    Most Learner Dad Workshops are held in local pubs. This is because we want to create a relaxed atmosphere where we can have a good chat. Please see the Book Now page for the locations of future Workshops.

  • When is the best time to go to a Learner Dad Workshop?

    We recommend that you come to a Learner Dad Workshop after your prenatal class and before your baby is due.

    Going to prenatal classes will help you get your head around the birth. Learner Dad will focus on what happens after your baby is born.

    If, however, you find you are running short on time you can attend the workshops soon after the birth of your baby.

  • What should you expect from the Learner Dad Workshop?

    Learner Dad Workshops are open discussions of key issues for new Dads in a relaxed, friendly and informal style. We cover all of the key issues in the transition to parenthood and provide you with the skills to deal with them.

    Each Learner Dad Workshop is facilitated by a Dad for new Dads.
  • What should you bring?

    We like to have a laugh so please bring a sense of humour. Also it would be great if you could bring a willingness to share your experience with other first time Dads and any questions you may have.

    If you like taking notes, then bring a pen and paper.

  • How much does it cost to go a Leaner Dad Workshop?

    The cost is $140 per person for the Workshop (inclusive of GST).  You have the option of paying by credit card or cheque. We use PayPal for credit card processing becuase it is safe and easy to use. You don't need to set up a PayPal account. For bookings and payment click Book Now.
